Castle EAST School has 120 pupils on roll. This is the maximum number of pupils we can have and is our pupil admission number.

Do pupils need to have “average” cognition?

Yes. Our pupils are able to access a mainstream curriculum at an age-appropriate level. Our pupils have the ability to learn and achieve within the broad average range for children of a similar age.

Average class size and staffing model:

12 to 14 pupils with one Learning Support Assistant who supports the group throughout the day. Our curriculum means that pupils at KS3 and KS4 are taught by a range of specialist subject teachers. Our primary cohort are taught by one main primary teacher.

Brief description of the curriculum offer:

Our pupils follow the National Curriculum at KS2 and KS3 and a GCSE Pathway at KS4. All pupils at KS2 and KS3 also access our specialist 3H (Head, Hearts, Hands) communication and interaction curriculum, for the first period of every day.
