‘Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play. In order to fulfil this responsibility effectively, all professionals should make sure their approach is child-centered. This means that they should consider, at all times, what is in the best interests of the child.’

At Castle EAST School the health, safety and wellbeing of our pupils is at the very core of everything we do. We believe that our children have the right to protection, regardless of age, gender, race, culture or disability. Our pupils have a right to be safe in our school and we work hard to foster a secure, nurturing environment and ethos within our school that encourages pupils to aspire to achieve to their fullest potential.
Our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy ensures that all staff in our school including non-teaching staff and visitors are clear about the actions necessary with regards to child protection issues.
The aims of our policy are to:
- Provide staff with a framework to promote and safeguard the wellbeing of children and young people and ensure that they understand and meet their statutory responsibilities;
- Ensure consistent good practice across the school.
If you are worried about any child in our school or if any pupil speaks to you and you have any concerns about what they have said, then please speak to a member of our safeguarding team as listed above. If you are unable to talk to a member of the identified safeguarding team then please contact any of the class teachers, support staff or call the school office who will record and pass on any concerns.
